In loving memory of Pontien

Pontien, a man of service, compassion and action! You are gone but will never be forgotten.

It is with a heavy heart that we share the sad news of the passing of our esteemed International Collaborator, Pontien Kabongo who left us on Friday 27 December 2024.

He dedicated over two years of his life to supporting the IYCW, working closely with the International Team and the International Secretariat. His guidance, experience, and genuine affection for the young people and the movement have left an indelible mark on our work.

Pontien will forever remain in our hearts as a beacon of service and action, a true inspiration to all who had the privilege of knowing him. His unwavering dedication to the youth movements and his commitment to the mission of empowering young workers are testaments to his remarkable character and profound impact on the lives he touched.

Born in Muene-Ditu, Democratic Republic of Congo, Pontien's journey was one of service and compassion, beginning from his early days accompanying youth movements to his role as an International Chaplain for the JOC. His passion for social justice and his tireless efforts to promote the dignity of every individual, especially young workers, embodied the true spirit of solidarity and collective action.

Pontien's presence will be deeply missed, but his legacy of empowerment and advocacy will continue to guide and inspire us in our mission. His infectious dynamism, unwavering joy for life, and resolute commitment to making a difference will be remembered as a shining example for all.

To Marina, his children, and all who were touched by his kindness and dedication, we offer our deepest condolences and heartfelt sympathies during this time of profound loss. May you find comfort in the memories of Pontien's remarkable life and in the knowledge that his impact will forever live on in the hearts of those he has touched.
